We’re Julie and Carly, A mother-daughter team that loves to travel and EAT!. Combined we have lived and worked all over the world (Michigan, Milan, San Francisco, Taipei, Kobe, Tokyo, Oahu,Toronto, Chicago, Miami) including 16 years in Asia. We currently call Chicago and Miami home (which is super convenient when winter hits Chicago!). We are both self confessed foodies, fitness and travel fanatics and use our network of relationships all over the world to bring a local perspective to each and every trip (meal!) we plan.
MEET JULIE:
Julie has made her career in Marketing, PR and Culinary Arts and is the Co-Founder of a food based charity in Toronto. She has worked independently as a chef, caterer, recipe developer and cooking instructor in Canada, the US and Japan. Julie worked in advertising in San Francisco, managed a relocation company in Tokyo, worked for an International food import company in Kobe, launched a food and culture based charity for families in Toronto and continues to work in the PR and food industry in Chicago. She loves to travel every chance she gets while raising three kids (in three different countries!) as global citizens.
Julie believes that food is the window to all cultures and is on a mission to foster the spirit of exploration by connecting people through food and culture. When not planning trips for Taste Journey, she’s probably planing her own, or working in her organic garden crafting her next meal to share with family and friends. Julie believes that travel is for everyone and loves creating the perfect Taste Journey experience for someone else. She personally researches and forms relationships at each and every destination for Taste Journey. This is her dream job traveling with her BFF, Carly, because now she gets to call travel and food exploration “work”!
MEET CARLY:
Carly is a marketing professional with experience in both the food and beverage and fintech industries. She has lived and studied in Tokyo, Toronto, Chicago, Tennessee, Milan, and currently Miami, and jumps at any opportunity to explore a new city. Carly’s passions for food, travel, and culture are fueled by her international upbringing. She loves to share her favorite cuisines and traditions that she grew up with overseas with her friends and family in the U.S.
Carly is a huge advocate for making every meal count, especially when on a special vacation, when sometimes three meals is just not enough! She loves seeing the joy that her favorite places and restaurants around the world bring others throughout their travels. When not researching new global hotspots or creating social media content for Taste Journey, you’ll probably find her at the beach or in the kitchen testing out a new viral TikTok recipe. She considers herself both the luckiest daughter and business partner in the world because she gets to travel, eat, and explore alongside her role model, bestie, and mom, Julie!
